Job Description:

Light of Christ Catholic Schools is inviting applications for a part-time Library Aide at Cathedral Elementary School.  This position is responsible for overseeing the library environment and services and assisting in long-term assessment and goal planning. The Library Aide provides leadership in acquisitions, cataloging, training, and collection management operations.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities  

1. Support the philosophy of Catholic education and teach, advocate, encourage, counsel and witness in keeping with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith and teachings. Strive to serve as a role model for students in their spiritual growth.
2. Advise procedures to maintain the library collection, including repair and removal of damaged materials.
3. Recommend process to procure age and content appropriate materials for students and teachers.
4. Provide guidance for clerical functions related to processing new material, circulation, inventory, and supplies.
5. Schedule guest readers and authors.
6. Plan, schedule, and facilitate professional development meetings.
7. Identify and promote reading month activities.
8. Coordinate annual book fairs.
9. Attend the in-service days specified by the principal.
10. Keep strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to students and staff.
11. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year related experience.
• Strong computer skills and human relations skills.
• Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
• Maintain ethical behavior in all interactions.
• Able to develop effective working relationships with others.
• Able to perform basic mathematical operations.
• Able to explain concepts in a variety of ways to accommodate various learning styles.
• Able to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions.
• Able to multi-task and read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Able to deal with problems involving several variables.

Location & Schedule

Cathedral Elementary School

Generally Monday through Friday, 7:45am to 12:00pm when school is in session
