Job Description:
Location: Wahpeton, North Dakota
Position Type: Part-Time (District-Wide) 20 Hours/Week
Reports To: Director of Special Education / Building Principals
Position Summary:
Wahpeton Public School District is seeking a compassionate and motivated Case Manager to support district efforts to reduce chronic absenteeism and strengthen student and family engagement. The case manager will serve all four district school buildings, working collaboratively with students, families, and staff to identify barriers to attendance and connect families with the supports and resources needed to promote consistent school participation.

Primary Responsibilities:
Monitor attendance data and identify students who are chronically absent or at risk.
Conduct needs assessments to determine the factors contributing to attendance concerns.
Develop and implement individualized plans to address barriers to regular school attendance.
Connect students and families with community resources such as transportation, health, housing, and mental health supports.
Collaborate closely with school administrators, counselors, teachers, and support staff to coordinate interventions.
Communicate regularly with families in a respectful, strength-based, and solution-oriented manner.
Support attendance incentive programs and other engagement efforts.
Maintain accurate documentation
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Psychology, or a related field.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trust with students and families.
Commitment to supporting students through a strengths-based and culturally responsive approach.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in case management, school-based social work, or family engagement.
Knowledge of school systems, community resources, and attendance intervention strategies.
Experience working with students and families facing barriers to regular attendance.
Familiarity with documentation requirements, data collection, and evidence-based practices.
Funding Contingency Statement:
This position is funded through a grant awarded to Wahpeton Public School District and is contingent upon the continued availability of those grant funds. Employment in this position is subject to annual review and continuation of grant support. If grant funding is reduced or discontinued, the position may be modified or eliminated.
