Schedule: Mon-Fri Approx. 3:30pm-12:00am
SUMMARY: The Custodian – Evening - Lead is responsible for the overall maintenance of the building and grounds by ensuring the building is regularly and thoroughly cleaned, equipment properly maintained, all safety standards upheld, and school grounds attractively maintained.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
Collaboration:
Assists in all receiving and delivery operations.
Develops positive, effective working relationships with learners and staff.
Communication:
Communicates to substitute custodians of duties each shift. Follows-up with substitute custodians to ensure work was complete.
Communicate with building administrators regarding the cleaning of the building, building maintenance matters, and any employee concerns that arise.
Provides training via job shadowing to new custodial staff and substitute custodians.
Provides building security by reporting all damages to supervisor and ensuring all doors are locked during appropriate times.
Documents and reports safety hazards and potential facility, grounds or inmate security compromises or problems.
Directs, coordinates, and oversees the work of the building custodial staff to ensure that all building custodial tasks are done in a thorough and timely manner.
Connects and shares ideas through appropriate/applicable formats to express thoughts and ideas with integrity.

Maintains a current manual of material safety data sheets on all chemicals and cleaning substances used in the building and assists other staff members in obtaining information from that manual.

Provides upkeep to floors and other surfaces by cleaning and renewing floor surface finishes.
Maintains all furniture, equipment and fixtures by cleaning, dusting and polishing.
Collects and disposes of all wastepaper and debris according to school district disposal policy.
Maintains bathrooms, locker and shower rooms on a daily basis by cleaning, disinfecting and restocking.
Replaces light bulbs as needed.
Maintains safety and appearance of the grounds by picking up and disposing of trash, removal of snow and ice, mowing and trimming.
Keeps all equipment in safe and efficient operating condition by following manufacturer’s operating and care guidelines.
Moves furniture, supplies and equipment within the building as directed.
Ensures furnishings, supplies, grounds and building interior and exterior are maintained for a safe, secure environment for students, employees and visitors.

The employee may work in an environment that has a moderate to loud noise level.
The employee may come in contact with bloodborne pathogens or other bodily fluids on rare occasions.
The employee will frequently be exposed to items of high or cold temperatures, chemical compounds, and/or sharp edges.
Education and/or Experience:
High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) is preferred.
Prior custodial experience is required.
Must be able to operate floor maintenance equipment, snow blower, lawn mower, trimmer, and all cleaning equipment.
Language Skills:
Ability to read, write, and comprehend simple instructions and short correspondences in the English language.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally, expressively, and reactively.

Exercise confidentiality, discretion, and good judgement.
Adhere to the assigned work schedule by maintaining regular and punctual attendance.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
May supervise other custodians/substitute custodians.
Salary: Position follows the Classified Salary Schedule 2025-2026 B213. Starting salary begins at $19.70-$22.10/hour, based on experience.
