Business Manager Job Description
REPORTS TO: School Board and Superintendent
QUALIFICATIONS: As established by the School Board
JOB GOAL: Administer the business affairs of the Thompson Public School District to provide the best educational services with the financial resources available.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
● Assists in the management of the financial affairs of the school
● Assures that the district receives optimal fiscal entitlement from county, state and federal resources
● Comply with internal audit procedures, schedule external audit, and respond to audit recommendations
● Maintain procedures and comply with financial record keeping and security of such records
● Provide financial information for budget preparation, enter into software and file the budget and mill levy certification ● Accounts payable and accounts receivable
● Receive, manage, and maintain custody of all moneys for which the District or the Board is responsible and manage all other district financial accounts
● Reconcile canceled payroll and accounts payable checks with bank statements and verify bank balances with statements
● Attend meetings as assigned by Board or requested by the Superintendent and record the minutes of all meetings at which required to attend (including negotiations) and disseminate minutes to newspaper if applicable
● Perform all other duties required by law
● Prepare, distribute, and file all reports and contracts requiring business manager signature and/or assigned to business manager by the Board
● Analyze and review data for annual reports, prepare and check final reports concerning the district and assemble them for distribution to the proper authorities (ND Annual report, Employee Compensation report, etc.)
● Supervise, organize, and coordinate all school elections
● Provide notice of all school board meetings as required by law
● Maintain administration and board policy manual
● Complete and submit various state reports & reimbursement claims (CTE, Title, Special Education Contracts, etc.)
● Act as an advisor to the Superintendent and Board on all questions relating to the business and financial affairs of the district
● Maintain the confidentiality of students and staff
● Prepare, process, and disseminate payroll; Monthly/Quarterly/Annual reporting requirements
● Administer employee benefit policies/programs; Provide information on benefits, policies, and procedures
● Maintain permanent records of district employees and maintain personnel files following law and district record retention schedule
● Maintain records of all personnel leaves
● Perform all other duties as assigned T
