Job Description:

Light of Christ Catholic Schools is seeking a Vocal Instructional Aide to assist the St. Mary's Central High School Concert Choir and the Vocal Music Instructor daily for the 2026-27 school year.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

1. Support the philosophy of Catholic education and teach, advocate, encourage, counsel and witness in keeping with the beliefs and practices of the Catholic faith and teachings. Strive to serve as a role model for students in their spiritual growth.
2. Collaborate with the choir director on presentation and instruction of class materials.
3. Work with students through sectionals, ensembles, and individual instruction during class.
4. Assist in maintaining the music library.
5. Prepare the rehearsal spaces with chairs, risers, pianos, and additional equipment when needed.
6. Maintain punctuality and professionalism during all scheduled activities.
7. Keep strict confidentiality on private matters pertaining to students and staff.
8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Basic piano skills.
• Knowledge of conducting, rehearsal technique, music notation, and musical scores.
• Prior experience in choral ensembles.
• Bachelors degree in music (preferred but not required).

Working Environment/Physical Demands

The employee regularly works indoors/outdoors. The noise level in the work environment varies from moderate to loud. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, and use finger dexterity. The employee is occasionally required to kneel, crouch, stoop, reach, bend, twist, and lift up to 25 pounds.

Location & Schedule

St. Mary's Central High School; 5 days a week during choir rehearsals when school is in session; must be available occasionally for weekend concerts.
