DEPARTMENT: Career and Technical Education (CTE)

REPORTS TO: CTE Director and TMCHS Administration

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months/school calendar

LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Community High School

POSITION SUMMARY
The CTE Health Occupations Teacher is responsible for providing high-quality instruction in health science and health occupations courses at Turtle Mountain Community High School. This position prepares students for careers and postsecondary opportunities in health-related fields by delivering rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that integrates academic knowledge, technical skills, workplace readiness, professionalism, safety, and ethical practice.

The Health Occupations Teacher creates a safe, engaging, and supportive learning environment that promotes student achievement, career exploration, employability skills, and hands-on learning experiences. This position works collaboratively with administration, CTE staff, counselors, families, and community partners to support student success and strengthen career pathways in the health sciences.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver instruction in health occupations and related CTE courses in alignment with district curriculum, North Dakota standards, CTE requirements, and course objectives.
Develop and implement lesson plans, learning activities, assessments, and instructional materials that support both classroom and hands-on learning.
Prepare students for career pathways in health care and related professions by teaching foundational health science knowledge, technical skills, workplace expectations, and professional conduct.
Maintain a safe and orderly classroom, lab, and instructional environment, including proper supervision of students using equipment, materials, and simulated or clinical learning tools.
Teach and reinforce health and safety procedures, confidentiality expectations, infection control practices, and ethical standards relevant to health occupations.
Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with varied skill levels and learning needs.
Monitor student progress and maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, competencies, assessments, certifications, and course completion.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, classroom expectations, behavior, and student performance.
Collaborate with counselors, special education staff, CTE staff, administration, and community partners to support student learning and career readiness.
Participate in the development and support of work-based learning opportunities, career exploration activities, dual credit opportunities, clinical experiences, job shadowing, internships, and student organizations as applicable.
Maintain required inventories, instructional supplies, equipment, and classroom/lab materials in an organized and safe manner.
Support student leadership opportunities and career and technical student organization activities related to the program, when applicable.
Participate in school improvement efforts, professional development, staff meetings, parent conferences, IEP/504 meetings, and other assigned district responsibilities.
Maintain all licensure, certifications, training, and program documentation required for the position.
Perform other duties as assigned by the CTE Director, TMCHS Administration, or TMCS District Administration. 
 
QUALIFICATIONS
A bachelor's degree is preferred.
Applicants must hold the appropriate North Dakota teaching license, teaching permit, endorsement, credential, CTE authorization, or other state-recognized approval for the assigned Health Occupations/Health Science coursework.
Health care, nursing, allied health, EMS, CNA, medical assisting, or related work experience is preferred.
Successful teaching experience at the secondary level is preferred.
Knowledge of secondary instruction, classroom management, curriculum development, and student assessment.
Knowledge of health science practices, workplace safety, confidentiality expectations, and professional standards relevant to health occupations instruction.
Ability to organize and supervise classroom, lab, and career readiness activities safely and effectively.
Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
Strong organizational, communication, instructional, and classroom management skills.
Must pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.

RANGE OF SALARY: Based on the current Belcourt School District #7 Teacher Salary Schedule and qualifications
