Job Description:
Starkweather Public School is seeking a reliable and hardworking head cook for the 2026–2027 school year. This role oversees and manages the district’s food services department. We are looking for someone with strong communication skills and a commitment to serving the students and staff.
Responsibilities include preparing and serving nutritious breakfast and lunch meals, menu planning, maintaining kitchen cleanliness and safety standards, ordering and storing food, completing required paperwork and reports, operating kitchen equipment, and ensuring compliance with USDA and DPI guidelines. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED preferred, be able to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for extended periods of time, and work efficiently in a school kitchen environment. Other duties may be assigned by administration.
Normal work hours are 7 AM to 2 PM Monday through Friday, following the school calendar. New hire would work 180 days, have federal and state holidays off as well as weekends and summers. New hire would begin August 13 with required training August 4.
