Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in Social Work or Counseling
LCSW (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) or LPC/LPCC (Licensed Professional Counselor)

Active license through:
North Dakota Board of Social Work or
North Dakota Board of Counseling

3+ years post‑master’s mental health therapy experience

Position Summary
Provide evidence‑based mental health therapy to PK–12 students across all schools in the district
Deliver clinical services and consultation within a multi‑tier system of supports (MTSS)
Coordinate with school staff, families, and community providers to support students experiencing trauma or needing individual/small‑group services

Key Responsibilities
Clinical Services & Treatment Planning
Design and implement treatment plans based on child and family needs
Provide direct practice services that foster social and emotional competencies
Collect non‑identifying data and outcomes; prepare quarterly progress reports
Complete and submit documentation for Medicaid reimbursement and treatment planning

Collaboration & Consultation
Consult with school teams, parents/guardians, and community providers to ensure a continuum of care
Coordinate with principals, school social workers, school counselors, and special education case managers
Attend quarterly collaborative meetings to improve coordination of services
Educate teachers about the effects of trauma and advocate for students with mental health challenges

Student & Family Support
Promote a safe, healthy, and inclusive school environment
Build trusting, developmental relationships so students feel seen, heard, and valued
Provide emotional support and guidance to parents/guardians
Help remove barriers to healthcare access and increase connection to community resources
Support efforts to improve student attendance

Equity & Cultural Competence
Advocate for policies, programs, and services that reflect culturally competent practice
Demonstrate sensitivity to cultural and socioeconomic differences among students and families

Other Duties
Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness

Work Environment & Physical Demands
Primarily performed in a school setting; frequent sitting, occasional walking and standing
Requires clear oral and written communication and sufficient audio/visual perception
May need to lift up to 50 pounds and perform movements such as reaching, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling
Possible exposure to physically aggressive or verbally abusive student behavior; may require use of de‑escalation and restraint strategies
Moderate noise level; higher risk of exposure to infection than the general population
Direct responsibility for the safety, well‑being, and outcomes of students

Evaluation
Annual written evaluation by the Director of Behavioral Health & Wellness.
