REPORTS TO: TMMS Principal

TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: 9 months/school calendar

LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Middle School

POSITION SUMMARY
The Cybersecurity Teacher is responsible for delivering engaging, standards-aligned instruction in cybersecurity and computer science concepts to students in grades 6-8 at Turtle Mountain Middle School. This position prepares students to understand digital safety, responsible technology use, foundational programming concepts, and career pathways in cybersecurity and information technology. The Cybersecurity Teacher creates a structured and inquiry-driven learning environment that builds student competency in an increasingly digital world while reflecting the values and community context of the Turtle Mountain Chippewa Nation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Plan and deliver standards-aligned cybersecurity and computer science instruction for students in grades 6-8, covering topics such as digital citizenship, internet safety, network fundamentals, data privacy, cybersecurity threats and defenses, basic programming, and information systems.
Develop and implement lesson plans, projects, assessments, and learning activities that build student competency in cybersecurity concepts and prepare students for secondary coursework and career pathways in technology and information systems.
Integrate cybersecurity topics with other content areas and real-world applications to make learning relevant, culturally responsive, and meaningful for students in the Turtle Mountain community.
Differentiate instruction to meet the academic, behavioral, and social-emotional needs of students with varied skill levels, learning profiles, and backgrounds, including students with IEPs, 504 plans, and English language needs.
Monitor and assess student progress through formative and summative assessments; maintain accurate and timely records related to attendance, grades, and course completion; and use data to adjust instruction and support student growth.
Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding academic progress, classroom expectations, behavior, and student performance.
Collaborate with special education staff, counselors, administration, and other teachers to support student learning, implement accommodations and modifications, and participate in IEP and 504 meetings as applicable.
Maintain a safe, organized, and functional technology classroom environment, including basic oversight of devices, equipment, and software used for instruction.
Participate in school improvement efforts, MTSS and RTI processes, professional learning communities, staff meetings, parent conferences, and other assigned district responsibilities.
Stay current with developments in cybersecurity, computer science education, and relevant state and federal technology standards and integrate updated content into instruction as appropriate.
Support student interest in technology-related extracurricular opportunities, career exploration, and dual credit or articulation pathways where available.
Maintain all required licensure, certifications, and training for the position.
Perform other duties as assigned by TMMS Administration or TMCS District Administrative Leadership.

QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, Education, or a closely related field is required.
Applicants must hold or be able to obtain prior to employment the appropriate North Dakota teaching license or endorsement applicable to this position. Candidates with an endorsement in Computer Science, Technology Education, or a related area are preferred.
Industry certifications in cybersecurity or information technology, such as CompTIA Security+, CompTIA IT Fundamentals (ITF+), Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), or comparable credentials, are preferred.
Knowledge of cybersecurity principles, computer science concepts, digital citizenship, and age-appropriate technology instruction at the middle school level is preferred.
Successful teaching experience at the middle school or secondary level is preferred.
Ability to differentiate instruction and support students with diverse academic needs, including students served under IEPs and 504 plans.
Strong organizational, communication, and classroom management skills.
Ability to build positive, respectful relationships with students, families, staff, and community members.
Familiarity with culturally responsive teaching practices and trauma-informed approaches is preferred.
Experience working in a tribal school or with Native American student populations is preferred.
Must pass a background check and meet all district employment requirements.
