Job Description:

Terms of Employment:  Nine (9) months, academic school year

Hours:  8:00am - 3:30pm, Monday through Friday, when school is in session

Variable full-time and part-time positions available with flexible scheduling.

Location:  To be determined

 

 

Education:  Graduate of a Speech-Language Paraprofessional program with an associate’s or bachelor’s degree.  Must have a Certificate of Completion in Speech-Language Pathology issued by the North Dakota Department of Public Instruction, Office of Special Education.

 

Qualifications: Experience in a school setting preferred.  Basic academic and computer skills, ability to work well with students, excellent human relations and communications skills.

 

Job Goal: The job of a Speech-Language Pathology Paraprofessional (SLPP) is to provide speech-language therapy services to students identified with a variety of needs and disabilities according to each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) under the direction of a Speech-Language Pathologist.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to the following: 

Assist in speech-language screenings.

Perform documented tasks developed by the supervising speech-language pathologist.

Document student’s progress toward IEP goals and objectives.

Prepare materials, perform scheduling and maintain space or equipment.

Participate in IEP meetings in addition to the speech-language pathologist.

Work with students individually or in groups.

Other duties as assigned. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely.  Maintain mental capacity, allowing for effective interaction and communication with others. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.

Evaluation: Job performance will be evaluated by the Supervising Teacher, Building Administrator.
