Job Description:

Southwest Area CTE Academy and Dickinson Public Schools are now accepting applications for a Computer Science or STEM  Education Instructor.

We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual with a background in computer science or other related STEM field. This instructor will help provide students with skills and practical hands-on lessons in computer science and STEM fields which could include, career awareness, coding, cyber security, emerging technologies, design principles, robotics, energy and power and more. The program of studies includes classroom instruction and lab activities aligned with North Dakota Career and Technical Education Standards. Planned courses for the 2024-2025 school year include Computer Science Essentials and Cyber Security with room for expansion. Training opportunities in summer 2024 and curriculum resources are available to support the new hire and classes. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Refine and deliver engaging computer science, and cyber security curriculum for high school students (curriculum is available for new hire)

2. Utilize innovative teaching methods to foster student learning and critical thinking skills.

3. Provide hands-on experience through lab exercises, projects, and real-world simulations.

4. Monitor student progress, assess their understanding and provide constructive feedback.

5. Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student success.

6. Stay current with advancements in computer science and cybersecurity fields to continuously enhance curriculum and teaching methods. 

7. Collaborate with colleagues to align curriculum with educational standards and school goals. 

8. Participate in professional development opportunities to further enhance teaching skills and knowledge.

9. Serve as a mentor and advisor to students interested in pursuing careers or post-secondary education in related fields.

10. Advise the Technology Student Association (TSA) organization on campus and participate in their conferences and events. 

 

LOCATION: SWCTE Campus 271 34th St. W, Dickinson

                     

LICENSURE: North Dakota Teaching License– with a major or minor in the area(s) of computer science or STEM field. Provisional certification may be granted when the instructor is enrolled in an approved CTE alternative teacher education program and holds a relevant work history aligned with this program.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

Valid ND Secondary Teaching License in Computer Science or hold a bachelors degree and relevant work experience in similar field. 

Must possess the organizational and communications skills necessary to be an effective teacher.

Indication of a willingness to establish and maintain positive working relationships with students, staff, and business/industry personnel.

A wiliness to learn and incorporate new technologies into the curriculum.

 

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 185 day contract starting on or around 8/19/2024

Other:

SALARY:  Determined off the 2024-2025 Professional Negotiated Agreement. The salary range is $48,500 - $76,375 depending on education and experience.

Salary Range:
