Terms of Employment:  12 months

Hours:  8:00am - 4:30pm; Monday through Friday

 

 Education: Associated degree in related area plus 3 years of related experience in human resources. Directly related experience may be considered as an equivalent to the education requirements.

 

Qualifications: Excellent customer service skills, human relations skills, organizational skills, collaboration skills, communication skills, computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite, Google, Adobe), knowledge of hiring processes and records management.

 

Job Summary: The Human Resources Assistant at Grand Forks Public Schools plays a crucial role in supporting the efficient operation of the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for providing administrative and clerical support to the HR team, assisting with various HR functions, and ensuring compliance with school district policies and relevant regulations. The Human Resources Assistant will be an essential part of the team dedicated to attracting, retaining, and developing a talented and diverse workforce to serve the educational needs of our community.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Administrative Support:

Assist with the preparation, organization, and maintenance of HR documents, records, and files.

Manage appointment scheduling, calendars, and correspondence for the HR department.

Answer telephone calls, direct inquiries, and provide general information to employees and job applicants.

Prepare and distribute HR-related communications, such as announcements, memos, and notices.

Recruitment Support:

Assist in the coordination of interviews, including scheduling, candidate communication, and interview logistics.

Manage substitute applications and maintain substitute listing.

Onboarding and Orientation:

Assist in the preparation of new hire paperwork and orientation materials.

Coordinate new employee orientations, ensuring a smooth onboarding process.

Collect and maintain employee documentation, including I-9 forms and other required records.

Maintains district Time and Attendance platform, ensuring accurate and proper pay records as well as initializing

employees into the timekeeping system.

Compliance and Record Keeping:

Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations.

Maintain accurate HR records, including personnel files and other confidential information.

Assist in generating HR reports as needed.

Manage athletic extra curricular contracts. 

Work Environment and Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, walk and stand. Lift sixty (60) lbs. occasionally, with the ability to reach, stand, walk, carry, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, sit, and/or crawl. The ability to hear and see in order to communicate effectively as well as communicate clearly and concisely. Prolonged periods of sitting. Occasional travel for recruitment or training purposes.
