Job Description:

Job Summary:
The K–12 Music Teacher is responsible for developing and delivering a comprehensive music education program for students in kindergarten through 12th grade. This role fosters students’ musical skills, creativity, and appreciation for diverse musical styles while supporting their social and emotional development through the arts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging music lessons aligned with state standards
  • Teach a variety of music concepts, including rhythm, melody, harmony, notation, and music history
  • Direct and manage school ensembles such as choir or band
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and skill levels of students
  • Assess student progress through performances, assignments, and formal evaluations
  • Organize and lead concerts and school performances
  • Integrate technology and multimedia tools into music instruction
  • Maintain classroom instruments, equipment, and sheet music inventory
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and parents to support student success
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Education 
  • Valid state teaching certification/licensure in Music Education (K–12)
  • Proficiency in vocal and/or instrumental instruction
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

Work Environment:

  • School setting including classrooms, auditoriums, and performance spaces
  • May require after-school hours for rehearsals, concerts, and events

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for extended periods
  • Ability to lift and move musical instruments and equipment as needed

Compensation:

  • Salary commensurate with education and experience base salary is 45,000
