Job Description:
POSITION: Turtle Mountain Community Schools Summer Program Mentor
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT: May 30th – June 28th 8:30 am – 1:00 pm
LOCATION: Turtle Mountain Community High School
QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants must meet qualifications for the position
Applicants must attach/submit all documentation to be considered for a position.
Education: Must have High School Diploma or GED.
Mentors should have a strong sports background, and good supervisory skills.
Mentors must display a sensitivity to the needs of Turtle Mountain Community School students.
Must be able to work flexible hours, possibly weekends.
Personal Attributes: Punctuality, reliability, positive human relations skills, personal conduct appropriate to a positive role model for student in areas of lawfulness, behavior, moral character, and skilled in student training.
Successful applicants must have a favorable background check according to district policy.

Has the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals; understands written and oral instructions. Computer Skills
Can navigate using web browsers; can execute web searches and communicate via email. Understands basic file manipulation (open, edit, save, copy, cut, paste) and printing of documents. Can effectively utilize office-related applications (e.g., Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Publisher, Google Suite). Can navigate/effectively use peripherals (e.g., interactive whiteboard, projectors, cameras, printers, pda, etc.). Possesses knowledge and ability to access and navigate web-based applications.
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Responsible to Athletic/Activities Director and NYSP Coordinator
Supervise groups of participants as determined by NYSP Coordinator
Maintain participant discipline at all times.
Prepare block plans and lesson plans that provide the progression in each age or ability group for each daily activity and ensure that the lesson plans are in use and available for view at the site of the activity.
Provide quality instruction and maximum opportunities for participation by making full use of equipment and activity space.
Assist the professional instructors in the instruction of the activities offered in the activity program.
Assist with classroom instruction when requested by the Program Coordinator.
Additional duties may be assigned based on the needs of the local Summer Program
